Intended learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course unit will be able to:

O1. Understand the architecture of electronic and embedded systems used in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), identifying their main subsystems, functions and interconnections.
O2. Characterise the energy systems, sensors, interfaces and communication protocols used in UAVs, assessing their suitability for different operational requirements.
O3. Understand the operation of flight controllers, telemetry systems, and data acquisition, processing and communication mechanisms in UAV platforms.
O4. Analyse the integration of sensors, communication systems and payloads, considering performance, reliability, interoperability and energy consumption requirements.
O5. Use simulation and analysis tools to support the configuration, integration, validation and diagnosis of UAV systems.
O6. Apply systems engineering principles to analyse and solve problems related to the integration, operation and validation of UAV platforms in real-world operational contexts.
