Intended learning outcomes
This course intends to endow the students with knowledge and skills in the electrical machines area. To achieve this, the students have to:
- Understand the operation nature of the magnetic circuits in the electrical engineering perspective, with emphasis in the electrical machines knowledge area;
- Understand the operation principle of power transformer as element of energy grid;
- Obtain skills on transformer tests and exploration level;
- Understand and apply the electromechanical energy conversion principles;
- Understand operation principle of the rotating induction machine (asynchronous machine) as electromechanical drive and power generator;
- Obtain skills on manoeuvres level, tests and exploration of rotating induction machines as motor, generator and brake;
- Understand the basic principles of operation of synchronous and direct current machines;
- Understand the principle of operation of single-phase induction machine as special machine.
