Intended learning outcomes

A student completing this course unit should be able to:

  1. Define the fundamental concepts of digital image processing and biometric systems.
  2. Define the key concepts related to supervised machine learning techniques.
  3. Describe and explain how the current biometric recognition systems work for recognition tasks.
  4. Analyze and formulate the main features of a biometric recognition system, as a function of the set of requisites and goals to achieve.
  5. Choose the adequate tools and techniques for both digital image processing and biometric systems.
  6. Predict, evaluate, and compare the performance of digital image processing and biometric systems.
  7. Develop and evaluate digital image processing and biometric systems.
  8. Write technical reports, with a comparative analysis and discussion of different solutions.
