Intended learning outcomes
- Study the fundamentals of solid mechanics and matrix analysis of structures from the perspective of the analysis of massive structures. Navier equation: general case of three-dimensional equilibria. Reference to the simplifying assumptions used in the analysis of linear and laminar pieces. Static and dynamic loads.
- To study the fundamentals of the finite element method (FEM).
- Development of finite element programs, using MATLAB type platforms, in view to perform structural analyses (2D and 3D), thermal and hydraulic analyses.
- Development of routines for graphical representation of numerical results (3D representation of displacement fields and stress) using the type MATLAB platforms.
- Analysis of application examples, namely structural computations (dams, tunnels, roads pavements, foundations, etc.), as well as thermal and hydraulic computations. Comparison with results of commercial programs.
