Catarina R. Leal is a Coordinator Professor of the Department of Physics at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa. Has a first degree in Physics and Materials Engineering (1992), a Master's in Materials Engineering (1994) and a PhD in Materials Science (2001) from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Catarina R. Leal is a member of the Materials Research Center - CENIMAT / I3N. Her research interests focus on the rheology of complex fluids (liquid crystals, liquid-crystalline polymers, micellar systems and biological systems), the Reo-NMR of mesomorphic systems and the modeling of rheological behavior.
