Intended learning outcomes

At the end, the student should be able to:

  1. Interpret and represent structures of organic molecules (2D and 3D), correlating their structures with common name and according IUPAC.
  2. Rationalize the structure and functionality of organic compounds with its family, reactivity and physical properties.
  3. Understand the mechanisms associated with the changes of the main functional groups, and its correlation with stereochemistry, chemo, regio and stereoselectivity.
  4. Identify organic compounds with biological importance.
  5. Use structural characterization techniques, namely FTIR, UV-Vis and 1H NMR.
