Intended learning outcomes

The curricular unit (UC) of Wastewater Treatment Systems aims to provide students with knowledge concerning municiapl wastewater composition (domestic, industrial and rainwater) and operations and processes units applied in the wastewater treatment and discharge standards.

In this UC the theoretical and practical concepts of the design, exploration and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), the treatment / recovery and final disposal of by‐products (screenings, oils, sludge and biogas) and energy balances are presented.

After attending the UC, students should be able to substantiate and understand WWTP design, exploration and maintenance studies, be able to process the application of operations and processes units in wastewater treatment, select and manage by‐ product treatments and disposal of WWTP, knowing how to make energy balances and identifying and implementing preventive measures for risks incurred by workers and facilities.
