Intended learning outcomes
  1. Understand the importance of cell metabolism for cell and tissue culture and be familiar with developmental biology in order to recognise different types of cells and tissues.
  2. Know about methods of production and isolation of primary and stem cells, processes of immortalization and for cell line maintenance.
  3. Provide an integrated background on biomaterials for potential tissue engineering applications, including biomaterial scaffold fabrication and characterization.
  4. Learn the concepts of tissue organization, the relevance of the extracellular matrix, cell-cell communication, significant interactions between cells and matrix and biomaterial.
  5. Be able to identify cell therapy and tissue engineering strategies applied to regenerative medicine.
