The BSc Program in Computer Science and Data Economics (CSDE) emerges to fill gaps in the higher education offerings. The aim is to equip graduates with the skills to integrate into teams and develop projects, with a solid understanding of business concepts and the technological tools that support decision-making and communication between the fields of Computer Engineering and Data Economics. The competencies are taught by ISEL and ISCAL, in collaboration between the two institutions, both with recognized experience in training in their respective areas.

The goal is to provide graduates with relevant competencies in the area of Computer Science, as well as in Economics/Finance/Management. Graduates should be able to work as professionals in Computer Science, in areas such as application programming, creation and management of information systems, design and implementation of architectures for web applications, and design and management of data models for Data Science. They will also be equipped to use tools and models for analyzing and forecasting specific problems in the fields of Computer Science and Economics/Finance/Management. They should be capable of using the language, concepts, and technologies of both fields (Computer Science and Data Economics), positioning themselves in a differentiated professional space that responds to the growing value placed on this type of interdisciplinarity in the labor market.

In the field of Computer Science, special emphasis is placed on the study of techniques within Data Science (DS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. In addition to foundational computer science training, graduates will be able to select, apply, and evaluate the use of machine learning tools, DS, and AI techniques and models. The application domain will focus on economic, financial, and management problems, for which graduates will also have the skills for development, analysis, and interpretation.

In the areas of Economics/Finance/Management, graduates should have knowledge of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Management, and Finance. Econometrics will also be a component of the acquired training. The connection between business management and computer science is also a crucial tool for information processing to support decision-making.
As transversal competencies, a variety of skills will be covered, including expression and presentation techniques, business English, among others.

In the final year of the program, students will undertake an internship/project with partner companies of ISEL and ISCAL, aimed at solving real-world problems posed by the company, using tools and skills acquired throughout the course. They also complete an elective course in any scientific field.

The CSDE BSc proposal results from the involvement of ISEL and ISCAL faculty members in research, development, and consultancy activities for companies and other entities in the core areas of the Program.
