Intended learning outcomes

After approval in the course unit, the student should have the ability to:

  1. model and formulate mathematical problems continuously dependent on several variables, usually time and space.
  2. understand the essential requirements in formulating a well-posed problem, its uniqueness, structural stability in relation to input data, and the (in)predictability inherent to the modelling of physical phenomena and practical situations.
  3. be prepared to discuss and analyse well-posed and ill-posed models formulated with partial differential equations.
