ISEL Green Week 25, a week dedicated to sustainability, was held from May 26 to 30, organized by the ISEL Eco-Campus program. Over the course of five days, students, faculty, staff, and external partners participated in activities that promoted debate, action, and environmental awareness.
The program included webinars on “Sustainability and Digital Transformation: Innovation for the Future of Water,” focused on the intelligent management of water resources, and “Urban Miniforests: Contributions to the Environment and Well-Being,” which highlighted ecological solutions for urban environments.
There were also workshops on “Youth Associations: The Role of New Generations in Climate and Humanitarian Action,” organized by Ecozoic, which challenged participants to reflect on the role of youth in climate and humanitarian action, and another dedicated to artisanal production with a natural soap workshop.
On one of the days of ISEL Green Week, the campus was filled with energy with the Peddy Paper for waste collection, organized in conjunction with the ISEL Student Association (AEISEL), followed by a vegetarian food tasting, held by ProVeg Portugal.
The week also included a Chi Kung class, dedicated to physical and mental well-being, a planting event, with the participation of several members of the IPL academic community, and the presence of the Plantar Uma Árvore association. Ryze brought moments of learning with flavor with the quiz “Do you know about sustainability? Prove it (with cake)”.
The week ended with a solidarity futsal game, organized by AEISEL and sponsored by the IPL Social Action Services (SAS IPL), with proceeds going to the São Maximiliano Kolbe Parish Social Center. A vegetarian lunch was also served open to the community, accompanied by flavored water from EPAL - Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres, closing ISEL Green Week 25 with a performance by the Estudantina Académica do ISEL.
The “tODxS” exhibition, promoted by the Instituto Marquês de Valle Flôr (IMVF) and the Fundação Fé e Cooperação (FEC), with the support of Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, was on display throughout the week. There was also a scientific poster exhibition with works by our students dedicated to sustainability, and the Circular Economy Cabinet received several donations of clothes, accessories, books and food, encouraging reuse and the spirit of sharing.
Once again, ISEL Green Week brought together the academic community and several external partners, including Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, EPAL, Desafio Vegetariano Portugal, SAS IPL and IMVF, around sustainability, through the promotion of actions that aim to raise awareness and implement good practices that contribute to reinforcing ISEL's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
