Who is the international Student ?
It's the student who hasn't portuguese nationality.
Exceptions:
- Nationals from another European Union state member;
- Those who, aren't from a European Union state member, but live, legally, in Portugal, for more than two consecutive years till 31th august of the year they pretend to join IPL, and also the children living with them legally;
- Those who recquire to join high education trough special regimes ruled by law (Decreto-Lei n.º 393-A/99, of 2nd of october, changed by the Decreto-Lei n.º 272/2009, of 1st of october).
- Those who study in IPL units under a international mobility program to make part of a study cycle of an international high education institution with whom IPL has stablished an exhange agreement whit that purpose.
Diplomas recquired
- Portuguese high school diploma;
- The equivalent to Portuguese high school diploma;
- Holders of a qualification giving access to higher education.
Access conditions
Specific academic qualification in areas of knowledge recquired for the study cycle they want to hold;
Portuguese language knowledge or any ohter language that is going to be used to minister the degree;
Hold the pre requirements fixed for the study cycle whitin the high education access regime.
Exams
If the applicant holds a high school degree he must access by doing high school national final exams;
For students with foreigner high school diploma legally equivalent, it´s possible to do perform portuguese entrance tests, has self proposed student. The portuguese tests are conducted in Portugal or in a portuguese school abroad. The candidat must register in the same conditions and legal deadlines, provided by the General Directorate of Higher Education of the Portuguese Government.
The entrance tests my be replaced by final exams of those course subjects if they have national scope and when they concern similar subjects of entrance tests (Consider similar when, althought they have different denominations, they have similar level, goals and content to the program of the entrance they replace.
The entrance exams may also be replaced by examinations made by IPL Units on matters on which incur national exams.
The final ratings of national access tests and foreigner exams are valid in the year of their execution and within two years. For each course it may only be used entrance tests that obtain grade equal or higher then de minimum established by the institution.
Level of portuguese language knowledge
Independent user of portuguese or other language in which teaching corresponding to level B2, according to Independent user of Portuguese or another language in which teaching, corresponding to level B2 is given, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
The international applicants who have only one domain of the portuguese language or other language which teaching is equivalent to level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, can apply for this entrance test, if they attend a course of Portuguese foreign language, or other language that is taught in the school, getting confirmation of registration in the IPL unit under the condition of obtaining the B2 level of that language.
Where can you follow the Portuguese Course foreign language
You can attend the course in High School of Education through two ways: an intensive course conducted in the begining of the semester or a regular course, conducted during the semester, implying the frequency of the course the payment of fees. If the applicant has access condition as a Portuguese high school diploma or an equivalent degree diploma in the language in which the lectures will be given, it shall not be required to demonstrate knowledge of that language .
How to apply?
The application has to be made to ISEL and envolves the payment of a fee, set in the Exchange Fee Table.
Which documents are recquired to apply?
- Passport copy or foreign identity document;
- Statement under oath, ensuring that the candidate has no Portuguese nationality and is not covered by any of defined exceptions;
- Document proving high school graduation or equivalent Portuguese * ;
- A document, showing that the academic qualification in the country where it was obtained, giving access to higher education, is validated by competent consular authority of that country * Language Knowledge diploma certifying that the school where it will be given correspondis to level , to the CEFR or statement issued if they are attending the course of Portuguese foreign language * ;
- Document stating the assigned prerequisites for the course of study concerned;
- Other documents requested by IPL units.
* Documents should always be translated. Those that are not translated to Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, and endorsed by consular service or presented with the Hague Apostille by the competent authority of the State from which the document is.
How is stablished the candidates ranking?
Is made according to descending order of final classification. The minimum score in the examinations and a minimum mark the application form for access to each course of study are relevant to those required for the national competition for annual access set by IPL .
How is calculated the application note?
- High School classification;
- Classification of the entrance exams;
- The formula that defines the application note for this particular contest corresponds to the calculation formula for the application for each study cycle of cycle set annually for the national contest access.
Where to find the schedules and contest results?
The competition calendar and the ranking list are published on the ISEL website.
How to make the registration and enrollment?
The candidates must hold its registration and enrollment within the prescribed period on the calendar. The registration also involves student registration and the payment of the fee. The payment of the fee made by registration and enrollment in case of cancellation is not returne.
What is the tuition fee?
€3.800
International students are entitled to social action?
International students benefit only indirectly social action.
Are there any grants funding programs?
Yes, the european funding guide available in www.european-funding-guide.eu. It´s the largest online platform in EU, with free access, aimed at undergraduate, master's and phd students, in order to find financial support.
The 12.000 support programs available cover a range of of areas in which higher education students may apply for financial support, from everyday expenses, tuition and extra costs for semesters abroad, language courses and costs from scientific projects.
The platform works through an algorithm that only shows the grants, loans and premiums corresponding to each student individual profile.
