Intended learning outcomes

The goal is to equip the student with the capability to analyze and develop modules and systems for the estimation and the control of physics quantities, based on digital tools and technologies. Knowledge and competences to be developed are:

  1. Know principal characteristics of sensors and actuators of physical entities and their calibration;
  2. Know techniques for direct (open loop) control of actuators, including motors (dc and servo) and light and sound sources, and microcontroller (arduino) implementation;
  3. Know protocols of digital communication and modeling and programming techniques for systems driven by modularity and parallelism, and implementation;
  4. Know estimation techniques via sensor fusion, and implementation;
  5. Know, analyze, implement and test projects with digital closed-loop control;
  6. Know to model, implement and test estimation and control projects with distributed computation.
